Mae Jewel Goggans

Mae Jewel Goggans age 88, passed away on February 17, 2021. A longtime resident of Northwest Indiana, she was born in Browder Kentucky and moved to Hammond in 1950. The family later settled in Dyer IN. Mae had many friends and was always there to lend an ear or support for those in need. She maintained close ties with many relatives throughout the country. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and the pillar of the family. She also worked at Southern Electric, Lake Central Schools, and Munster Community Hospital. Her sassy wit, strength, quiet resolve and determination set an example for many. Mae was loved and will be missed. She is preceeded in death by parents, Corbit 'Pete' and Celia Whitney, and husband Cecil Goggans. She is survived by her children, David (Beverly) Goggans of St John IN, Vicki (Mark) Robbins of LaPorte IN, Sharon (Brian) Beuchaw of Oklahoma City, OK, and Jeffrey (Sarah) Goggans of Wexford, PA.; grandchildren, Steven Goggans, Michael Goggans, Maxwell Goggans, and Benjamin Goggans and sisters, Sue (Luther) Webb and Ann (late Luke) Mosley. Mae will be laid to rest alongside her husband of 56 years privately by the family at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Crown Point, IN. Due to the current conditions of Covid-19, a Memorial Gathering will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to AMVETS, the Wounded Warrior Project, or the American Lung Association.
