Harry C. Williams
February 8, 1926 – February 16, 2021

Harry Charles Williams, passed away at Walnut Creek Alzheimer’s Care Center on February 16, 2021 at the age of 95. Born in 1926 to Harry and Mary (Herrold) Williams, he was an only child who grew up on the south side of Pittsburgh, PA. A graduate of Central Catholic High School in Pittsburgh, he enlisted in the Army and proudly served in the 142nd Infantry Regiment from 1944-1946 and was honorably discharged. He received two Purple Hearts and the Bronze Star during his service.
He was a cost estimator for several different companies throughout the United States, spending his final working years at Keller Crescent Company in Evansville. A lifetime member of the American Legion Kapperman Post 44, Harry served on the E-Board of the Post and was financial officer and general manager of Post 44 baseball for many years as well as volunteering for many different duties as needed. He and his wife, Mae, enjoyed the people they met as they travelled with the team and hosted many games and tournaments in Newburgh.
Harry is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Mary “Mae” (Bohonak) Williams. His surviving family includes daughters Mary (Bill) Saxton and Diane (Tom) Braun of Newburgh; son, Mark (Crystal) Williams of Capac, Michigan; grandchildren Kristen (Bart) Bitter, Jason (Ashley) Saxton, Matt (Kelly) Braun, Adam Braun, Leah (Matt) McIntyre, Olivia Williams; great-grandchildren Madison Hicks, Cassius Bitter, Stone Bitter, Eliza Saxton, Emma Braun, Kate Braun, Olivia Braun and Sawyer Hahn.
Visitation will be on Friday, February 26, from 1:00-5:00 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Home in Newburgh. There will be a 10:00 a.m. funeral mass at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church on Saturday, February 27, officiated by Fr. Dusty Burns, followed by burial with military honors at St. John Church Cemetery in Newburgh.
