Obituary of Charles Roger Jonas
After a brave battle with cancer, Charles (Roger) Jonas passed away peacefully on May 15, 2019, under the loving care of his wife, Home instead Senior care and Allegiance Hospice. Roger was born in Jackson, Michigan on June 19, 1948 to Charles and Helen Jonas. He served in the Air Force as a crew chief from 1968 – 1972 stationed at Kincheloe AFB and served several months in Thailand. A life-long resident of Jackson, he worked at Yardman, Hayes-Albion and as a Real Estate Broker with several Jackson agencies. Roger served several years on the Board of Directors of Hayes-Albion/Jackson Community Credit Union and on the Blackman Township Zoning Board. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Debra (Blodgett) Jonas; daughters, Kimberly (Lorenzo) Neal and Shawne Bannerman (Wayne Page); grandchildren, Brandon Strickler, Zachary VanSyckle, Tyler and Dylan Connelly, Tyler and Blake Bannerman; several great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Judy (Jim) Newell and Cheryl (Mark) Loss; niece, Gina Newell; nephews, Dan Scott, Nick (Erin) Holtz and Rusty Holtz. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws, Alan and Betty Blodgett, preceded Roger in death, granddaughter, Jordyn VanSyckle and sister, Lorraine Durbrow. He will be remembered as a proud, hardworking, honest and compassionate man who enjoyed hunting, fishing, casinos, golf and traveling to Northern Michigan. Visitation for family and friends will be Sunday, May 19, 2019 from 4:00-8:00PM at the J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Drive, Albion, Michigan 49224. Funeral Service will be on Monday, May 20th at 1:00PM at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Albion Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude children’s Hospital, Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice or a charity of your choice.
