Obituary of James H. Olson
James “Jim” Howard Olson, 71, of Houston, TX, passed Monday, September 30, 2019. Jim was born to Howard and Dorothy Olson, August 22, 1948, in Compton, California. He graduated from Downey High School in 1966 and received an Associate of Applied Sciences from the Tarrant County College in 1978. Jim proudly served our country in the U.S. Army from 1968 – 1972 and was stationed in Japan. Jim had a career as an Engineering Draftsman for General Dynamics/Lockheed Martin. He was a 3rd generation Master Mason and a member of Arlington Masonic Lodge #438, Fort Worth Moslah Shrine and Fort Worth Scottish Rite, Everman Chapter #624 and Cypress Chapter #1102, Order of the Eastern Star. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Marcia Ann Pettke and they lived together in Arlington, TX from 1972 – 2001 and Houston, TX 2001 - present. Together they raised 2 children. He leaves as his legacy: Eric James Olson (Sarah), and Kevin Edward Olson. He also leaves to cherish his memory one granddaughter, Brooklyn Elizabeth Olson. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends including his mother-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, great nephews and great nieces and his Masonic and Eastern Star Brothers and Sisters. He was preceded in death by his father and mother Howard Olson and Dorothy Olson of Granbury, TX and brother, Larry Olson of Downey, CA. A memorial service is scheduled for October 11, 2019, 2pm at Moore Funeral Home 1219 N. Davis Drive, Arlington TX 76012. A reception will follow at Arlington Masonic Lodge. 1415 W. Abram St. Arlington TX 76013. The family requests that donations be made to the OES Humanitarian Fund in Honor of Jim Olson.
