Joseph Downey DOWNEY, Joseph Marshall. Longtime employee of the T. Eaton Company Ltd. Passed away on January 21, 2019 at the Southlake Regional Health Centre in his 90th year. Predeceased by his wife of 64 years Catherine (Kae), his parents Bernice and Marshall and his sisters Marybelle and Roseanne. Loving father of Michael (Madeleine), Patti (Bob Harrison), James (Susan), Teri (Gary Gerus) and Kelly (Giuseppe Mondino). Cherished Poppa Joe of Marty, Bobby, Marlena, Sarah, Jessica, Pietro, Jaymee, Michael and great grandfather of Kaelynn, Oliver and Livia. Dear brother of Donald and brother in law of Tom Beyers, Margaret Downey and Audrey Donegan. Joe will be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor. Skiing well into his 70s, Joe enjoyed the slopes in Canada and Europe with Michael in addition to travelling with Kae to Hong Kong, Thailand, Japan, Great Britain, Europe, across Canada and the whole family on vacations to Florida and Balsam Lake. Always tinkering around his beloved home on Preston Lake, where he served as Road Commissioner, Joe could always be counted on to help a family member by finding or fabricating an item, however unusual. Visitation will be held at the Thompson Funeral Home, 530 Industrial Parkway South, Aurora, 905-727-5421 on January 25 from 6 to 9. A memorial service will take place on January 26 at 3 in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society would be greatly appreciated.
