Obituary of Neil Forrest Cameron
Remembering Neil Forrest Cameron 8/11/1927 – 6/28/19 Neil Forrest Cameron passed away peacefully at home the evening of June 28, 2019. He was supported by his loving family, faithful friends and dedicated caregivers. Neil was born in Los Angeles, California and lived most of his life in Bakersfield. He joined the Navy at age 17. He served honorably in World War II and the Korean War aboard ship and as a draftsman with Naval Intelligence at Pacific Fleet Headquarters, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. While in the Navy, Neil met the love of his life and future wife, Wilma. They wed at Pearl Harbor in Honolulu and were married for 62 years. He loved his family and had many good friends. A passionate fly fisherman, Neil loved fishing with his sons across the Pacific Northwest and with his buddies in the Kern River Fly Fishers Club. Neil is survived by his sons, Kent and Court Cameron, granddaughters Candace Duron and Kasie Perez, and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma, and grandson Christopher. Services are Friday, July 26. The Graveside Service is at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 9101 Kern Canyon Rd. Bakersfield, CA 93306 at 9:00 a.m. The Celebration of Life Service is at RiverLakes Community Church, 4301 Calloway Drive, Bakersfield, CA 93312 at 10:30 a.m.
