Barbara Ann Hawkins

Barbara Ann Hawkins passed away peacefully at her home on May 20, 2019 after a long battle with advanced Alzheimer’s disease. Barbara was born on June 18, 1929 to Robert and Magdalen Brunson in Indianapolis, Indiana. She went to Saint Agnes High school and met the love of her life Joe Hawkins at a school dance. They would marry and be together for the next 67 years. They have five children and lived in Indianapolis and Houston. She will be remembered for being a devoted wife, mother and friend. She is preceded in death by her brother Robert Brunson and his wife Donna, and her father and mother. She is survived by her devoted husband Joseph Hawkins of 67 years, three daughters Kristy Skinner, Laurie Hawkins (Nick Caridas), Stacey Poche (Tom Poche), and her two sons Michael Hawkins and Doug Hawkins. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren Glen Porter III, Madeline Poche, Emily Poche, Emma Hawkins and Alden Hawkins. The Hawkins family extends their deepest gratitude to her caregivers Gloria, Rose, Emma, and Elizabeth for compassionate care. A special appreciation goes to Gloria who provided continuous comfort and reliable support for three years during Barbara’s battle. A memorial service celebrating Barbara’s life will be held Saturday June 1st at 2 pm at Earthman Bellaire funeral home 4525 Bissonnet St Bellaire, TX 77401. The family suggest memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
