Jerry Allen Farris

Born to Maud Moore Farris & David Allen Farris in Wilsonville, AL. Jerry graduated with honors from The University of Alabama in 1962 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering where he served as President of The University of Alabama's Chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. He retired from U.S. Steel Corporation after 38 years of service in Birmingham. He leaves behind his wife of 61 years, Ruth Ann Woods Farris, his son Craig Allen Farris (Louise Carmichael Farris), & his son Matthew Woods Farris, Sr. (Gardner Anne Vinson Farris). Jerry also leaves behind four grandchildren, who were the loves of his life; Matthew Woods Farris, Jr., Anne Margaret Farris, Clayton Allen Farris, & Ellen Louise Farris, as well as many extended family members and friends. A private funeral service is planned for Friday, September 13, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery. A public celebration of life reception will be held at Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church, 2061 Kentucky Ave, Vestavia, AL 35216 on Friday, September 13th following the funeral service at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send a contribution in his memory to Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church or The Birmingham Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary.
