Obituary of Josephine Campanotta Ippolito
Josephine Campanotta Ippolito, age 94, of Birmingham died peacefully on September 8, 2019. She will be remembered for her devotion to God, her husband, and her family. She will also be remembered for her cooking that most notably included her homemade Italian cookies and meals. She had a loving smile and was very thoughtful of others. Loving Wife, Mother and Nana Mrs. Ippolito was born in Pratt City, Birmingham, Alabama on April 22,1925 to Felix and Anna (Annie) Campanotta. She attended several High Schools growing up and graduated from Ensley High School. She spent her working days as an Administrative Assistant for Daniel Construction Company and retired from the Multiple Sclerosis Society. She was a long time devoted member of both St. Mark’s Catholic Church and most recently St. Peter’s Catholic Church. She was devoted to her faith, enjoyed singing in the choir and loved to pray the rosary and pray for others. She was greatly loved and will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Jimmie of 58 years, her brother Nick and her sister Marie. She is survived by her sons Norman (Martha), Jimmie (Shannon), daughters Joanna Mollica and Gloria Ross (Lee), grandchildren Lee Jr., Christopher, Michael and Elizabeth Ann Ross, Tony Paul Mollica III, Elizabeth Stewart Ippolito, Phillip and Brett Reeder, her sister Marianne Accardi and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Special thanks to all the doctors and nurses from Kindred Hospice and the caregivers from Synergy Home Care for their loving care. The family will receive friends at St. Peter’s Catholic Church on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. with the funeral mass to follow at 10:00 a.m. followed by burial at Elmwood Cemetery with Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel directing. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Peter’s Catholic Church Building fund, Dementia Society of America or American Cancer Society.
