Mackenzie Podo

Obituary of Mackenzie Podo
Mackenzie Podo died doing one of the things she loved most — riding her motorcycle. Her life was tragically cut short on June 8, 2019 at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham. She was surrounded by those who loved her, and whom she loved. Mackenzie — often known simply as Mack or Kenzie — grew up in Duluth and earned her bachelor’s degree at the University of Georgia. She lived fearlessly, adventurously, and independently, never settling for anything short of exciting. When she wasn’t riding motorcycles, she was captivated by nature. Some of her favorite trips included long hikes through the otherworldly landscapes of the Grand Canyon and Zion National Park. On the days she wasn’t able to venture outdoors, she would bury her nose in a book, play her guitar or piano, or tackle an ambitious baking project. While many cherished her quirky sense of humor and fierce individuality, those who were truly lucky witnessed the extent of her love and kindness. In lieu of flowers, we think she would have appreciated contributions to these causes.
