Mattie Pearl Gerke, 100, passed away peacefully Monday, June 17 at her home in Bryan.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 20 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. Interment will follow at Kurten Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 – 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mattie was born August 11, 1918 at the family home in Edge the daughter of James H. and Oma Bell (Duncan) Murphy. She was a formidable lady and a wonderful character, known for her hard working ethics. Mattie was one of the founding members of Northview Baptist Church.
Mattie is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Emanuel Gerke; brothers, Garland and Raymond Murphy; sister, Viola Harlan; and son-in-law, Joe Krolczyk.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Cindy Gerke; daughter, Nancy Krolczyk; sisters, Ella Mae Thomas and Billie Walcott; grandsons, Kevin Krolczyk and his wife Abbie, Ian Gerke, Rory Gerke and his wife Kaitlin; great-grandsons, Dudley and Will Krolczyk.
