Obituary of Bobby Joe Lakes
Bobby Joe Lakes, 66, died Tuesday evening, July 30, 2019, at his residence. A Fayette County native, Bobby was born August 30, 1952 to Voyd and Ernie Gay Isaacs Lakes and attended Connersville schools. In 2017, he retired as a truck driver from the Fayette County Highway Department where he had been employed for over 13 years. He previously had worked at Design and Manufacturing and as an operator with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Bobby was a member of the Eagles, Moose and Eagle Riders. Bobby was an accomplished musician and singer that especially enjoyed bluegrass music. Bobby is survived by his wife, the former Linda K. Wilson whom he married August 1, 2016; his sons and their wives: Ron Lakes and Vickie of Columbus, Ohio, Lance Lakes and Michelle of Connersville; his siblings and their spouses: Danny Lakes and Linda, Jatanna Nichols and Jeff, all of Connersville; his sister-in-law: Diane Lakes of Richmond; his grandchildren and their spouses: Jayme Lakes and Amber, Dustin Lakes and Courtney, Cory Lakes and Maegan, Cheyanne Howard, Dallas Lakes, Caleb Lakes; great-grandchildren: Zeb, Vada, Tatum, CJ and AJ Lakes; several nieces and nephews; step-daughters: Valerie Faris and her husband, Bill of Florida; Jamie Baker and her companion, Rod of Laurel; several step-grandchildren; and a host of loyal friends. In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his brother, Wayne Lakes. A Celebration of Bobby Joe’s life will be held Sunday, August 4, 2019, from 1 to 6 p.m. at his residence.
