Obituary of William "Bill" Octavian Zorka
William "Bill" Octavian Zorka, age 76 passed away on Monday July 8, 2019 with his loving family by his side at his home in Plano, Texas. He was born Sunday November 1, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan to Octavian George Zorka and Mary (Bacilla) Zorka. William grew up in Detroit, Michigan with his brother John. He attended Cass Technical High School in Detroit, Michigan. He graduated Wayne State University Detroit, Michigan with a BSME. Graduated SIU Edwardsville, Illinois with a MBA and graduated Kennedy Western University with a PhD. Bill went on to become a Mechanical Engineer GMC Pontiac in Michigan. He enrolled in the Army and became a CO Commander HHD US ASUPCOM CRB (Vietnam) from September 1970 to September 1971. Was Captain of the US Army. When his career in the Army ended he went on to work in the field he earned his degrees in as Mechanical Engineer for Chevron, Exxon, REED Tool, Safety Engineer Dallas VA and Project Engineer for Homeland Security. He met and married the love of his life and best friend Janet (Myers) Zorka and together they had 3 beautiful daughters and one son. They had many wonderful adventures together. Bill was a very kind,loving husband and father. He had a love of photography and took many pictures of his family. He loved coaching his children in soccer, softball and baseball. He also refereed in many of their soccer games. He also umpired in their baseball and softball games. He played coed softball with his wife. He was always around and very involved in their lives. He continued this on with his beloved grandchildren and loved spending as much time as he could with them. Bill had a sparkle in his eye and a smile that would instantly make you feel happy and safe. He loved to dance and swing/ big band music was his favorite. He would often walk into a room and sweep Janet into his arms and just start dancing. He never met a stranger! He loved coaching, tutoring and mentoring not only his own children but all children. He loved his country, family and God fiercely. His generosity, kindness and love for all people will be greatly missed. "Bill" is survived by his wife, Janet Zorka; daughter Amy Zorka Seaver; daughter Heather Zorka; daughter Julie Zorka Baker; and son Timothy Zorka; grandchild Katelyn Seaver, grandchild Aerin Seaver, grandchild Braxton Baker, grandchild Aly Zorka and grandchild Aspen Zorka. "Bill" was preceded in death by his father and mother; Octavian and Mary Zorka. Also preceded in death by his brother, John Zorka. A celebration of life for "Bill" will be held Sunday, July 14, 2019 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home, 8011 Frankford Road, Dallas, Texas 75252 with a catered reception. A committal service with military honors will occur Monday, July 15, 2019 at 9:15 AM at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211.
