Obituary of Sarah K. MacLennan
It is with great sadness that the family of Sarah K. MacLennan, 100, announces her peaceful passing at the Arborstone Enhanced Care, Halifax, on Friday Dec. 21, 2018. She was born in Big Intervale, Cape Breton, N.S, daughter of the late Murdoch and Jessie (Fraser) Mac-Gregor. She grew up in Cape North, lived in Coxheath, C.B., in Berwick, N.S,. and Moncton, N.B, before moving to Halifax to Tower Road, and to Dartmouth, on Lyngby Ave, and on Brookdale Crescent at the Souriquois. Sarah enjoyed an active and productive life. Hers was a loving and vibrant family and she loved all of them. She raised two daughters and worked with her husband, owning and operating the Yarn Barn, in Scotia Square. Her skills as a seamstress, crocheter, and knitter of woollen garments was renowned and she much enjoyed sharing her knowledge. As a true believer Sarah was an active member of St. David’s Presbyterian Church and was inspirational to all who knew her. We are saddened at her passing but are thankful that her end was peaceful and that now she can rest and join Alex and family up above. She is survived by daughter, Charlotte (David) MacLean; grandchildren Allison (Randy), Megan (Eric) MacDonald, and Gregor (Nicole); great-grandchildren Olivia, Chelsea, and Lachlan; daughter Faith (Bruce) Muench; grandchildren Sandy, Heidi (Rob), Amy, Melissa (Ryan) and Jessica, all of the Halifax, Metro Area; great-grandchildren Shardai, Renee, Breauna, and Zachary, Jayde and Madison, and Destiny; special niece Willa (Ross) Dean-Norman, and nephew, Hugh (Sandra) Campbell. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 64 years, Alexander Charles MacLennan of Dartmouth, sister Phyllis (Edward) Dean of Coxheath, C.B., and brother, Kenneth (Linda) MacGregor of Dartmouth, and granddaughter Tracey Shaw. In celebration of her life, a memorial service will be held Saturday January 12, from 1-2 PM, with Reverend Iona MacLean officiating, at St. David’s Presbyterian Church. Interment will be in the church cemetery at a later spring date. The family wishes to thank the caregivers at the Arborstone for their compassionate care and kindness given to our dear mother over the past few years.
