Jeremiah J Ryall

Jeremiah John Ryall Jerry was born May 7, 1950 in New York City. He graduated from All Hollows High School in 1968. He served honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1969-1971. He joined the New York City Transit Police Department in 1973, where he served for 22 years, eventually retiring as a Captain in 1995. While a police officer he attended John Jay College, and upon retirement he attended CUNY Law School, acquiring a Jurist Doctorate. For 20 years he worked alongside Taylor Walker as a family law attorney. His personal life was as full as his professional one. Jerry was raised in New York City by his mother and father, Jeremiah and Albina Ryall, along with his two siblings, Eileen and Michael. He married Donna Wreckter on September 8th, 1984 in White Plains, New York. Shortly thereafter their first child, Jenna Marie Ryall, was born on November 19th, 1985. 13 months later they welcomed their son, Jeremiah Joseph Ryall, into the world on December 16th, 1986. Their family’s first few years were spent in Kew Gardens, Queens, and in 1989 they moved to Deer Park, New York. In 1994 Jerry and Donna purchased their home on West 15th street in that same town, where he resided up until his death. As a man, he was known for his expert cooking skills and his willingness to share that with those around him. Countless birthday parties, holidays, and family gatherings were catered by Jerry, who you could always find in the kitchen, picking over every little detail to ensure the perfect outcome. He aimed to bring joy to all those around him, not just through the gift of food, but through his various comedic undertakings. There’s a very good chance upon seeing him he had concocted a new nickname, or a new prop, to present you with to bring a smile to your face. He patented more than a few very obscure, yet hilarious, sayings in his day. It was a way for him to show a fondness for those that he knew and he loved. Jerry led a wonderful life where he was surrounded by a community of people that he cherished endlessly. Loving brother to the late Michael Ryall, as well as his sister Eileen and her husband Edward Fichter. Beloved uncle to Lisa Fichter, Theresa and Brandon Green, and Joann and Massimo Piscitelli. Fond Great Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Lastly, a respected neighbor and father figure to many within the community. He will forever be in our hearts and deeply missed by all who know him.
