Margaret Rose Green

November 15, 1925October 2, 2019

The spirit of Margaret Rose Green, 93 of Greeley, was freed early Wednesday morning 10-2-19 while in the compassionate care of Grace Pointe. Margaret was born in Butte, Montana to proud Croatian immigrants, Stephen and Katherine Yavor. She lived ¾ of the last century, part of the Greatest Generation enduring the depression and WWII, outliving 15 presidents, bearing witness to remarkable historical events and advances. Margaret worked in the financial district in San Francisco as a young woman where she met and married Charles Green. In 1959, the Green family of 4 moved to Denver and then Greeley where she lived for 59 years. Margaret worked for social services for 25 years and upon retirement enjoyed travelling, volunteering at Weld County Hospital (NCMC) gift shop creating floral arrangements. She engaged her passion for bridge, reading historical novels, maintaining her fluency in Croatian, cheering on the Rockies and mostly spending time with family and friends. Her lust for learning was fueled by a vibrant curiosity. At age 90 she learned how to use an iPad and advanced her enjoyment of engineering creative solutions to basic mechanical problems. To friends and new acquaintances, “Marge” is most often described as an incredibly sharp, intelligent, witty, independent, resourceful, loyal and kind woman with a stunning smile.

Margaret is survived by her daughter Susan Krummrei (Patrick) Greeley, son John Green (Diane) Ft. Collins, Grandsons Michael (Rachel) Oro Valley AZ, Max (Kaitlyn) Scottsdale AZ, Grand Daughter Madison Green of Denver, Great-Granddaughters Emma, Brynna and Makenna Green Oro Valley, AZ and many special friends. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, her brother John and her beloved husband Charles Green.

Though Margaret loved flowers and floral arranging, it was her wish that such generosity be shared with persons in a care facility for their enjoyment. Donations in her memory may be made to Pathways Hospice.
