Obituary of Bernie Levy
Bernard Earle Levy, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, November 20th, 2018. Born on September 24,1938 in Halifax, he was the youngest son of the late Anne Kathleen and Harry Levy. In his younger years he was a very gifted athlete. He often spoke of being on the St. Pats High School hockey team, starting when he was in grade nine, where he was affectionately called ‘’Boom Boom Levy”, for scoring many goals and assists. He married his loving wife Mary MacDougall, in 1962, and they became the proud parents of two sets of twin girls, born exactly eleven months apart. He started his career with Maritime Tel and Tel in 1961, and had an amazing 32 years, starting out as a general labourer and retiring in 1993 as Regional Manager. He truly loved his career at MT&T and made many friends along the way, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he worked with. He was also a very successful professional boxing promoter. He was predeceased by his wife Mary, and is survived by his daughters; Bernadette, Claudette (Karen), Maureen and Kathleen, as well as grandchildren: Kimberley and Matthew, his sister, Mary (Donald) and he was predeceased by his brother Harry. He was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Friend and a proud Northender. He had a wonderful sense of humour and shared many stories that we will forever cherish. We will miss him dearly, and remember him always telling us to ‘’Keep Punching!’’ Visitation will be held at Cruickshanks Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St., on Tuesday November 27th from 2-4 and 6-8pm. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, November 28th, at 10am at St. Margaret of Scotland Church, 3751 Robie St. A Reception will follow in the church hall.
