Gordon Francis Purcell
January 23, 1920 – June 25, 2018

Purcell, Gordon Francis, 98 of Halifax, passed away on June 25th at the Camp Hill Hospital. Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, he was the son of the late Frank Purcell and Beatrice (Tuttle).
Gordon served overseas from 1942 – 1945. On his return, he became employed with the Nova Scotia Liquor Commission serving as foreman at the warehouse in Halifax where he worked for 35 years. He was a long time member of The Royal Canadian Legion, Fairview Branch, where he enjoyed playing darts and supporting Legion functions for many years. Gordon also enjoyed camping at the IOF site in Enfield, where he made many life-long friends. Gordon and Kay also enjoyed many summers vacationing in PEI.
He is survived by his daughter Patricia Ryan (Ray); son, J.C. Clark (Judy Pound); sister Catherine Shaw (Dave); four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson, several nieces and nephews, dear friend Frances Deveaux, her daughter Carol Towner and Ed Handler.
He was predeceased by his wife of 33 years, Catherine Fraser, sister Joyce Smith, Uncles Arthur and Robie Purcell.
Visitation will be held at J. A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, on Thursday, June 28, from 1-2 pm, followed by funeral service at 2 pm.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Red Cross, SPCA or charity of choice.
