Patrick "Pat" Paul Parnell

Age 79 of Halifax, "Paddy", "Gagee" passed away peacefully on June 8, 2019 at home, surrounded by family and love. Patrick was born in Halifax on March 17, 1940. He was the son of the late Wallace and Grace (Crouse) Parnell. He is survived by his wife, Joyce (Miller); his daughters, Joan (Marvin) Schnare, Cheryl (Tony) Boyd, Sharon (Avery) Henneberry; his son, Paul (Judy); his sisters, Kathleen Clements, Ontario, Colleen (Walter) Kelly, Dartmouth; his brother, Terrence (Neta), Quebec; his sisters-in-law, Irene Parnell, Annette Parnell, Beverly Parnell, Eva Nichols, Verna Garrison; his brothers-in-law, Ralph Verge, Robert Gallant, Keith Harvey, Norman Miller; his grandchildren, Melissa, Steven, Nicole, Brendan, Blake, Tyler, Becky, Colin, and Ashton; his great-grandchildren, Owen, Parker, Savannah, Avery, and Easton; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; sisters, Shirley "Betty" Verge, Carol Gallant, Marilyn Harvey; brothers, Wally, Ronnie, Bobby, Larry. Pat retired from Canadian Pacific Express after 29 years. Prior to that he worked at National Drugs – where he met the love of his life – French Pastry, and Bens Bakery. Pat loved feeding the dogs and crows on his daily walks, and caring for his grass. The TV remote was his best friend; he liked watching all sports, the news, and Bold & Beautiful. He enjoyed his tea, family card games, trout fishing, darts, and watching movies at the theatre, where he took a treat bag to two of his special girls every Tuesday. Pat and Joyce were looking forward to their 57th wedding anniversary on June 30th. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 12, from 6-8 pm at J.A. Snow Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 13 at 2 pm in St. James United Church in Sambro, with Rev. Helene Burns officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. James United Church, or a charity of your choosing. Special thank you to their good friend Donna for all the help, the VON and Dr. Kailee Sutherland.
