Obituary of James "Jim" Harry Gottschalk
James "Jim" Harry Gottschalk, age 73, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, unexpectedly on August 22, 2019 in Jersey Village, Texas. Jim grew up in Coffeyville, Kansas and attended Field Kindley Memorial High School and Coffeyville Community College with a degree in Mechanical Design. Jim moved to Houston, Texas in 1963, to participate in the Fluor Corporation drafting program to start his career in Oil and Gas Engineering as a Lead Piping Designer. During his 53 year career Jim was considered the man to call when a project needed his expertise. Jim would say that he had worked for every Engineering firm in Houston at one time or another. Jim found his forte, he loved his work and being able to be on projects around the world. Jim was preceded in death by his parents Marcus and Armella Gottschalk, brother's Leroy and Gary Gottschalk. Jim is survived by his wife of 51 years Shirley Gottschalk, daughters Kimberley Donovan (Tom), Cherie Armstrong (Gene), granddaughter Lauren Vela, brother's Bill and Thomas Gottschalk, sister's Shirley Bartle, Twila Rogers, Mildred Gilbert, Patricia Miller, Marilyn Keys, Debra Williams, and Linda Gottschalk and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of this wonderful man's life was held at Waltrip Funeral Directors, 1415 Campbell Road in Houston, on Friday, August 30, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. The Reverend Scott Lewis officiated. Interment followed at Woodlawn Cemetery, 1101 Antoine Drive.
