George Neil Ingraham
February 14, 1935 – December 13, 2018

George Neil Ingraham, Age,83, of Kenloch, Inverness, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 13, 2018 at home. He is a member of St. Margaret of Scotland Church, Broad Cove and a member of Captain Angus L. MacDonald Legion Branch 132, Inverness. George served in the Canadian Armed Forces for 23 years with Black Watch Second Battalion Pipes and Drums and did one peacekeeping tour in Europe. When George retired he went to work at the Shean Co-op as a meat cutter, he also worked at the Inverness Bowling Alley and was owner of G. Ingraham's Meat and Grocery for 5 years.
George also gave bag pipe lessons to Dartmouth Boys Pipe Band, and the Mabou Ceilidh Pipe Band.
George is survived by his wife Matilda of 61 years; sons, Brian (Marcella) Port Hood; Neil (Carol) Lower Sackville; daughters, Cathy (Mike) Beaulieu, Fall River; Mary (Billy) MacDougall, Beaverbank; 10 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
George is also survived by sisters, Julia MacIsaac, Port hood; Susie Fitzgerald, Baddeck; Gloria MacKinnon, Deepdale; Patricia Gillis, Inverness; Annie Timmons, Margaree; Nancy MacDougall, Glenville; brothers, Alfred and Roland, Belle Cote; Bobby, Margaree; sister-in-law, Lucy and step mother Ella of Margaree.
George is predeceased by his son, David Neil, grandson, David Francis, his parents, Murdoch and Marcella (MacLean); brothers, Murdoch Alex (Pat), William, David; and brother-in-law, Dak Kennedy.
Visitation will be held in Inverness Funeral Home on Sunday, December 16, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held in St. Margaret of Scotland Church, Broad Cove on Monday, December 17 at 11 a.m. with Father Dan MacDonald officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Central Inverness Palliative Care Society or to a charity of choice.
