Obituary of Hugh Patrick MacDonald
MacDonald, Hugh Patrick It is with great sadness that the family of Hugh Patrick MacDonald announce his passing on January 20, 2019 in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital. Born on January 19, 1953 in Inverness County, Hughie was a son of the late John Alex and Flora (MacLeod) MacDonald. He was cherished and is survived by his family, brothers, Duncan (Joan), Brook Village; Joe, Brook Village; and sisters, Jessie (Al), Halifax; Mabel (Shawn), Halifax; and Veronica, Edmonton; nieces, Heather Warner, Amanda MacDonald, Elizabeth MacKinnon, Florence Hearn, Carolyn MacDonald, Lindsay MacInnis, Brittany MacDonald; and nephews, Tyson MacDonald, Tyler Rankin, Evan MacDonald and John Francis MacDonald; grand nieces and nephews; Chloe, Maggie and John Michael. He is also survived by special cousin, John Hugh (Mary) MacDonald, New Waterford. Hughie was predeceased by his brothers, John Archie, Malcolm, Angus; and sister, Elizabeth Anne. Hughie was a woodsman and farmer for his entire life, always ready and willing to lend a helping hand whenever and wherever needed, never saying no to anybody in need. He lived a simple life full of fun, quick wit and many laughs. He had a fond love for animals, his family and his friends. Hughie was also a generous donor of his talents and help to his much loved home of Glencoe Mills and St. Joseph’s Parish. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 23rd in St. Joseph’s Parish Hall, Glencoe Mills from 2-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be held on Thursday,January 24th at 11a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, Glencoe Mills, with Father Bernie MacDonald officiating, burial in the parish cemetery. Donations in Hughie’s memory may be made to St. Joseph’s Cemetery Fund or Central Inverness Palliative Care Society. On-line condolences may be made to www.invernessfuneralhome.com.
