Charles Mitch Mitchell

Charles Mitch Mitchell Sr (C.M.) of Jacksonville Florida, formerly of Thomasville Georgia, passed away at his home Saturday, June 8, 2019. Born December 23, 1932, in Barney Georgia to John Thomas and Hattie Lorene Mitchell. He served as a radio operator in the US Army from April 1953 to April 1955. Mr. Mitchell retired after a long career with CSX Railroad. He enjoyed music through out his life. He worked with Curtis Gordon performing on country radio shows on WABB in Mobile Alabama and as a teenager on WMTM in Moultrie Georgia. Most recently he worked with the “Florida Steel Guitar Association” and was a member of the band “Just Us.” He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Evelyn Bailey Mitchell. He is survived by sisters Linda Harmon of Pavo Georgia and Sylvia Clements of Boston Georgia, sons Charles (Linda) Mitchell Jr of Kinsey Alabama, Thomas (Kitty Sue) Mitchell of Dothan Alabama, Jeffrey (Grace) Mitchell of Monticello Florida, Cindy (Jerry) Mitchell White of Meigs Georgia and Anne (Kenny) Mitchell Dollison of Jacksonville Florida, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. Services will be held Friday June 14, 2019, with visitation at 9:00, funeral at 10:00, and graveside services following at 11:00 at Riverside Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Boulevard in Jacksonville Florida.
