Obituary of Janice Sue Thompson
Our beloved mother, sister, mema and aunt, Jan S. Thompson, has gone home to be with the Lord and back with the love of her life Mark. She was surrounded by loved ones in her final days then passed peacefully into Glory beside her son David on Monday, September 23, 2019. Janice S. Thompson was born on September 16, 1943 to Arthur Coleman and Frances Wright Christopher. She loved her siblings Judy Taylor and husband Jeff, Laurie Winters and husband Jim, and her brother Mike Christopher who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her father and mother in law Fred and Ruby Thompson and brother in law Kenneth Thompson. She graduated Valedictorian of the Waxahachie High School class of 1961. She attended TCU and then UT Austin, where she met and married her soulmate Mark Thompson, who preceded her in death. She adored their son David Thompson and was an exceptional mother throughout his life. She later became a mema at the birth of Kaitlin Thompson, and that was a role she really excelled at, lovingly spoiling her Kaitie. Jan was a talented artist with an engineer’s mind. She followed her passion for design by creating beautiful, inviting, enduring living spaces as an interior designer. While Jan was one of Houston’s top interior designers for many years, she will always be praised most for her character; her love, generosity, kindness, gentleness, grace, hospitality and sweet, sweet spirit. Those things are what made Jan who she was. Jan is survived by son David and his wife Cara, former daughter in law Denise Thompson, and grandchildren Kaitie Thompson, Ashley Castenada, Kaylie Hall, Kelly Knowles, Lindsey Cook and countless other family members, friends, neighbors and caregivers who ALL loved her dearly and were dearly loved by her. Her loved ones want to thank the entire staff at Silverado/Auberge and Silverado Hospice for the loving attentive care they have given her these last few years. Jan’s memorial service and celebration of life party will be held at Kingwood Funeral Home on October 5, 2019 at 2:00 PM. The funeral home is located at 22800 Highway 59 North, Kingwood, TX 77339. In lieu of usual remembrances donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at the following link. Any donations made using this link will be matched dollar for dollar. http://act.alz.org/goto/LAURIEWINTERS While not necessary, you are welcome to honor Jan by incorporating her favorite color purple in your attire.
