Obituary of Joseph Lupo
On Friday, October 4th, 2019, Joseph Lupo, loving husband and father, passed away at age 84. Joseph was born on January 11, 1935, in Brooklyn, NY, to Marie (Carlo) and Pasquale Lupo. He graduated from Alexander Hamilton Vocational High School in January 1953. On September 1st, 1956, he married Roseann Giammarino and they raised two children, Joseph and Loretta. In 1961 Joe and Roseann moved their family to New Jersey, where they, their children, and Roseann's parents lived an idyllic life together in the beautiful all-American town of Nutley. There, Joseph's interests and activities included many volunteer pursuits when the children were young, including the Washington School PTA and Boy Scout Troop 150 (of which Joe was the founder). Later, Joe joined the Nutley Elks Club, where he worked hard, started at the bottom, and became Exalted Ruler- the top position at his local club. There, he continued volunteering for good causes, and he and Roseann enjoyed many fun times with their dear Nutley-area friends through the years. Before retiring to Las Vegas, NV, Joseph also enjoyed a long career in the commercial baking machine design and manufacturing business, providing large ovens and other equipment to many large bakeries, including some well-known companies such as Sara Lee Corporation. Until his retirement in 2004, Joe ran Rockaway Baking Machine Company (in Rockaway NJ), his own successful business specializing in English muffin equipment. Joe also loved Big Band music and old classic movies, and had a passion for helping others. His greatest accomplishment was, "through his love and an unrelenting pursuit of trying to help" (in Ron's words), helping Ron Cornell of 2 Act Ministries get off the streets, off drugs, and in turn, help so many others like him. Joseph was preceded in death by his father Pasquale and his mother Marie. He is survived by his wife Roseann and his son Joseph, daughter Loretta Tague, son-in-law Andrew Tague, and many cousins. As a farewell to Las Vegas friends, a funeral mass will be held at 1pm on Saturday November 9, 2019, at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church, 1811 Pueblo Vista Drive, Las Vegas NV 89128. A memorial gathering of East Coast family and friends will also be held from 1pm to 7pm on Saturday November 23, 2019, in Social Room B at The Philadelphian, 2401 Pennsylvania Avenue, Philadelphia PA 19130 (www.2401.com). In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to 2 Act Ministries. www.2actministries.org (Visit the "About Us" page to listen to Ron's testimony that mentions Joe.)
