Growing up in Lakewood Village , the Hookers were our next-door neighbors and best friends . I was eight when Dave was born; about a year later we moved to Anaheim but our families stayed in close touch ....he was so precocious MY mom used to brag about him! Four or five years ago I saw his posting on the "Born and raised in Long Beach" website, and reconnected with him-- and also Kathy. I will always treasure getting to know him as an adult, to enjoy his sparkly wit, his brilliant mind, his loving heart. My heart is with the family. David, rest peacefully in the arms of our Lord. A life well lived. Love you.....Jeri

Dave hooker was an amazing man with a heart overflowing with love. He played a huge roll in my recovery. In the 9 months we lived together at set free he became a father figure to me and many other men as we advanced the kingdom of heaven. He holds a special place in many of our heart and will be forever remembered as a man of peace love and richouseness

Growing up in Lakewood Village (Long Beach, CA) was always so much fun and deeply meaningful to me. Dave was someone I met there, and we were in the same classes from Kindergarten thru 4th grade. I was blessed to reconnect with Dave thru FB some years back and we had so much fun reminiscing about our years at Mark Twain Elementary School. We had the same teachers and our friends and classmates were the best! Even though I moved and had to start a new school in 5th grade, Dave was most definitely amongst all the incredible people who so magically and deeply touched my life all those years ago. My heart will remain forever grateful.
I was so shocked and saddened to learn about Dave’s passing. I know that God welcomed him home with wide open arms and that another light has been brightly lit up in heaven. Rest in Peace, Dave! 🙏🏼 ✝️ 🙏🏼

Dave was my classmate in the ‘accelerated” classes at Bancroft Jr. High and Lakewood High School, meaning he was an intellectually gifted young man. I never heard an unkind word said about him, and he was a very popular student. I remember him stepping out as one of the main characters in “Fiddler on the Roof” in high school and belting out “Miracle of Miracles.” I complimented him on his performance a couple of years ago and he told me he HATED that song; well, he made it work.
I don’t think there was a mean or evil bone in his body. He was a loving Christian man who loved his children and grandchildren, and had a great sense of fun, which is better than a good sense of humor. God bless you David. We will meet again some day.
