Obituary of Helen N. Blance
Funeral services for Helen N. Blance, age 93 of Heuvelton will be held at 2:00pm on Monday (Aug 12, 2019) at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Nichols officiating. Burial will follow at Oldsville Cemetery in the Town of Macomb. Calling hours will be held also on Monday from 12:00pm to 2:00pm. An Eastern Service will be held at 1:30pm at the funeral home during calling hours. Mrs. Blance passed away on Thursday (August 8, 2019) at her home surrounded by her loving family and under the care of Hospice. Surviving are her children Linda (Ivan) Coant of Fulton, Noreen Butterfield of Heuvelton and Cindi (James) Frederick of Macomb; nine grandchildren James (Jennifer) Coant of Syracuse, Charles (Sandra) Coant of Hannibal, Michael (Kimmi) Coant of Fulton, Beth (David) Pechey of Hammond, William (Francine) Butterfield of Ogdensburg, Alisa Tanner of Fulton, Robert Tanner of Fulton, Jason Tanner of Delaware, Salina Bacon of Heuvelton, David & Loren Putman of Hammond; great-grandchildren Daniel, Tyler, Mackenzie & Sam Coant, Chance Darien, Marissa & Abigale Tanner, Jasmine Mason, Patrick Youngs, Anthony, Dominic, Damien & Dontee Butterfield; great-great-grandchildren Wayne Chambers & Liam Samarco; a brother Howard Shippee of Canton along with many nieces, nephews & cousins. Her husband James and a daughter Lorraine Tanner predeceased her. Helen was born on February 25, 1926 in Antwerp, a daughter of the late Charles & Marion (Fleming) Shippee. She attended Antwerp School for her education, and later married James A. Blance on December 24, 1945 at the home of her parents. Helen sold Avon products for many years, assisted her husband with the farm, worked at Coville’s General Store in Pope Mills and was active with the Macomb election board for years. She was a member of the De Peyster United Methodist Church and Order of Eastern Stars St. Lawrence Chapter 60. Helen enjoyed working at church, involvement with the Grange and Eastern Stars, reading, gardening and spending time with her family. Memorial contributions can be made to the De Peyster United Methodist Church or Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley.
