Obituary of Cor Lobbes
Cor passed away at Royal University Hospital on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at the age of 75. He is survived by his son Derrick Lobbes, daughters Coreen (David) Dupré and Carey (Dana) Wolowski, stepson Scott (Pam) Funk, brother Tom (Gaynelle) Lobbes and sister-in-law Mary Lobbes as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Albert Lobbes, mother Derkje Lobbes, beloved spouse Phyllis Funk and brother Albert Lobbes. Cor was born in Zwijndrecht, Netherlands and immigrated to Canada in 1952. He began working for the Saskatoon Fire Department in 1968. He took great pride in this career and retired as Captain in 2001. During this time, he also owned and operated Cor's Mechanical, a plumbing, heating and air conditioning company. He cherished the time he spent coaching and volunteering with his kids’ sports teams. Some of his favourite memories were watching his children grow up, golfing and camping with Phyllis and most of all spending time with family and friends sharing laughter and love. Cor was honoured for his long-time service in Emergency Medical Services in 2012 with the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal as well as the Canada 150 Medal in 2017. His most recent recognition was for the Village of Clavet's Citizen of the year for 2018 only days before he passed. All of these acknowledgements were a reflection of the life he led filled with generosity, kindness, love and commitment to his community, family and friends.
