Joyce Upshaw Frazier
January 19, 1946 – September 2, 2019
IN THE CARE OF
Earthman Southwest Funeral Home
Joyce Upshaw Frazier departed this world on September 2, 2019. She was surrounded by indescribable love as her new adventure began.
Joyce was born in Douglass, Texas, to Hadie and Lola Upshaw on January 19, 1946. She later moved to Houston, Texas, to attend Texas Southern University (TSU), where she met her first and forever love, Charlie. On December 3, 1965, they married with lifelong friends and family at their side. Over the years, Charlie and Joyce maintained a passion for travel through exploring beautiful locations near and far. Their family became complete in 1991 with the adoption of their son, Matthew.
After completing her Master’s of Education at TSU, Joyce worked to achieve a top ranking position with Xerox before launching her own recruiting company, Input Personnel.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Willie Upshaw. Her surviving family includes her adoring husband, son, sisters (Aline Williams, Thelma Hanson, Evia King, and Erlene Fuller), and a host of loving relatives who knew her simply as “Aunt Joyce.” She will be remembered as a loyal, reliable friend; the first call anyone would make for advice.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Earthman Southwest (12555 S Kirkwood Rd, Stafford, TX 77477). A reception will immediately follow.
