Obituary of An Van Nguyen
An Van Nguyen, age 79, passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at Harbor Hospice Inpatient facility in Houston. He was born August 1, 1940 in Go Cong, Vietnam to Mit Van Nguyen and Nam Thi Le. He attended the Vietnamese National Military Academy of Vietnam from 1961 to 1963, rank as Junior Lieutenant. After that, he joined the Rangers for five years. From 1970 to 1975 he was Mayor of Bao Loc - Di Linh province with the rank of Major. After the South Vietnam fell in 1975, he went to re-education camp and was released in 1984. Then, he fled Vietnam by boat and came to the United States in 1990. He started a new life with empty hands. He worked hard to support his family and be able to bring his whole family to reunite with him in this country. In the past few years he had suffered from dementia which made him unable to take care of himself. He totally relied on his family to support him for daily activities. In subsequent months, he became bed ridden and suffered from pneumonia. After a long hard fight against his disease, he was gone in the presence of his loving family. He always has been a dedicated husband and great father, a loyal friend to his comrades and a great fighter. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening. He is survived by his lovely wife, Trinh Lam, four children, and five grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2019 from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Forest Park East Funeral Home in Webster, Texas. Funeral services will be on Sunday, October 13, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the chapel of Forest Park East Funeral Home with interment at Forest Park East Cemetery.
