Muriel Mimi Pashutsky,93 years young, passed away on October 4th,2019, in Boynton Beach,FL. Mimi was the partner of Sy Greenberg for 19 beautiful years. Born in Brooklyn, NY she was the daughter of Belle Kaplan. She attended & graduated from NYU in NY. Mimi was a wonderful teacher for 30 years whose students claimed through the years that she was the best teacher they had ever had. She taught at the Caton School ( PS 249) in Brooklyn mostly 4th grade having had one of the First Open Classrooms and then became a reading specialist . She did creative projects with her students including musical shows and Art projects. She was an active member at the Pleasantville Cottage School , Hadassah, the Yiddish group, The Platina Singers , and a long time member of Congregation Beth Elohim in Brooklyn . Mimi enjoyed singing and opera, Broadway theatre, cats, painting, Mah Jong and Canasta. But most noteworthy about Mimi was her beautiful smile, her love for friends and family, and her unbelievable flair for fashion .Her hair,nails,makeup, matching jewelry and rhinestone encrusted shoes, purses and clothing always made her look as though she had walked out of a magazine. Sy would always be so proud of her when he walked her hand in hand down the street and people told him how beautiful Mimi was. She is survived by Sy Greenberg her hyphensu,her son Steven Pashutsky and his wife Marianne, her daughter Patti Shapiro and her partner Earl Matzkin,her grandchildren Jennifer and Michael Rapkine and Casie and Josh Friedman and great children Madison,Everly, and Scout. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 60 years Joseph Pashutsky.
The funeral service will take place on Thursday, October 10th at 12:00 pm at IJ Morris at Star of David Cemetery of the Palm Beaches, 9321 Memorial Park Road, West Palm Beach, FL 33412
