Dorothy Watson

Forever Remembered The family mourns the passing of Dorothy Frances Watson on March 28, 2019 at Deer Lodge Centre. She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter Cindy; grandchildren Jessica, Colin, Tyler, and Larissa; nephew Greg (& family) and many close friends. Predeceased by her parents, husband George, daughter Audrey and son Gordon. She was born November 26, 1928 and lived a long life full of love up until her passing. Dorothy, a devoted mother and wife, was fiercely independent living in her own home through her 90th birthday and spoke frequently of her love of the area and her desire to get out to walk down Kildonan drive to meet the new babies and dogs in the neighbourhood. Everyone can agree that Dorothy loved to talk, she had an ability to strike up conversation with anyone and everyone. She used her powerful voice to advocate for her son Gord, believing strongly in the proper respect and care for mentally challenged individuals and was instrumental in starting S.P.I.K.E. Dorothy was generous with her money donating to many charities over the years, and with her time as well, spending it wisely on lunch dates with her close friend Esther, and playing Mahjong with the girls. Family and friends have fond memories of travelling with Dorothy which included plenty of family camping trips. Dorothy had fond memories of all of the flowers she encountered on her journey. A gracious host right until the end she will be missed immensely. Immediate cremation has taken place. A memorial will be held on April 9th 2019 at 11:00am at John Black Memorial United Church, 898 Henderson Hwy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dorothy’s memory to the charity of your choice.
