We are heartbroken to announce the sudden and peaceful passing of Jean Gugin, on April 10, 2018, at the age of 79. Jean was predeceased by her lifelong partner Wilf, mother Flora, father Fred, baby sister Doreen, older sisters Irene and Marge, older brothers Bob and Stan, and nephew Jim (Bob’s son). Family who mourn her loss are twin sister Joan (& Hal), sister Evelyn, along with nieces and nephews including Irene’s children (Ron, Judy, Jan and Sue), Marge’s children (Bob and David), Joan’s children (Hal Jr. and Chris), Evelyn’s children (Lyn, Laurie, Jamie and Kate) and Bob’s children (Diane, Craig and Elaine). Also mourning her loss are many grand nieces and nephews along with friends. Born on April 10, 1939 in Cameron, Manitoba, Jean lived on a farm with her parents and 7 siblings. Jean graduated from Minnedosa High School in 1957. She went on to complete her lab technician training and worked several years in the lab where she met, and married Wilf. They began their life together in Winnipeg and ventured into real estate. Jean eventually set out on her own and established a real estate business. Her keen intellect and astute business sense made her a very successful entrepreneur. She enjoyed years of exciting travels to many places around the world however, her favorite place was her cottage at West Hawk Lake. She created a place where family experienced many of their fondest memories. Jean was a magnet and drew people in with her spirited energy making instant connections using colorful language and stories of her adventures. Jean loved nature, all animals and most especially her pets. She was a veracious reader, keeping up to date on politics, current events, movies and all things involving humor. Bold, intelligent, sharp-witted and a real character, Jean was cherished by family and her many very special friends. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation for the many caregivers who supported Jean with devoted service through her years at Sturgeon Creek II and particularly to her special caregiver and friend, Brenda. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway in Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Nature Conservancy of Canada, 611 Corydon Avenue Suite 200, Winnipeg MB, R3L 0P3
