Marie Isabella Roberts

Peacefully on Monday June 10, 2019, Marie passed away at Kin Place PCH in Oakbank at the age of 90 years. She will be forever loved and missed by daughter Patricia (Mike) Bobko; son David (Terri-Lynn); granddaughters Kimberly and Heather (fiancé Dyllan) and great-granddaughter Abby. Marie was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, William (Bill) in 2013; her parents Louis and Ena Meurrens and siblings William (Georgina), Elizabeth and James. Also remembering her will be her sister-in-law Valorie (Elwood) Colbert of Leduc, AB and brother-in-law Don (Audrey) Roberts of Winnipeg along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins on both sides of the family. Marie was born on February 1, 1929 in Fort William, Ontario. She spent her early years in Woodridge, MB and in her early teens she moved to Dugald to live with her aunt. She finished her schooling in Dugald and that is where she met Bill. They married on June 4, 1955 and built their home on the farm just south of Bill’s parents. Marie was a telephone operator and worked in Dugald and Winnipeg until they started their family. She went back to work in the mid 1970’s and retired from the Provincial Government in 1993. Bill and Marie then became “snowbirds” and spent 11 winters in Mesa, AZ where they made many friends and enjoyed shuffling, golf and clubhouse activities. In honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family interment has been held. A celebration of Marie’s life will be held on Monday, June 17, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home, Highway #1 East at Navin Road. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at both the Betel Home in Selkirk and Kin Place PCH in Oakbank for the wonderful care Marie received.
