Obituary of Michael Andre Rice
On Thursday March 18, 2021 Michael Rice, of Warsaw, passed away at age 55. Michael was born on March 20th, 1965 in Marion, Indiana to Martha (Pulley) Rice and Edward Rice, Sr. A graduate of Marion High School, Michael worked for several banks throughout Northeast Indiana until his retirement, and also started his own programming company, RTSI, Inc. Although a lover of black coffee, peaceful mornings at the lake, family vacations, and his fur babies Chewbacca and Khaleesi, Michael’s greatest joy was undoubtedly being a father. From coaching his children’s soccer team to serving as a pit dad for their marching band, Michael’s entire world revolved around his children. Michael could always be found with a camera in hand, preserving time and memories for others. Never one that enjoyed being in the spotlight, Michael’s love of photography captured his essence—his selflessness, attention, heart, love for others, and his ability to make everyone feel seen and loved. Michael was a natural handyman and jack-of-all-trades, always trying to better the lives of everyone he encountered. He frequently snowblowed all the driveways in his neighborhood in the winter, and always insisted on treating family and friends to a meal. It is no doubt the world is better because of Michael, and that we are better off for knowing him. He would want us to remember that Love Never Dies. Michael is survived by his children, Mark Rice and Michaela Rice, his ex-wife and dear friend Melissa (Mark) Rice, and his mother Martha (Pulley) Rice. He is survived by siblings Edward Rice, Jr., Jim and Linda Rice, Carol and John Copeland, Ginny Rice, Patti and Murray Boland, and Brenda Rice, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Rice, Sr., his brother, Tim Rice, and his sister-in-law Belle Rice. The family will hold a private celebration of life on Thursday, April 1, 2021 at Greenlawn Funeral Home in Fort Wayne. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
