Bobby Waylon Soles

Soles, Bobby Waylon, 77 of Richmond, passed away on June 20, 2021. He was predeceased by his parents, Rudolph and Gly Soles and daughter Sandi Soles Bridgers. He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Laura Rich Soles; daughter Brandi Soles Brown (Buddy), grandsons Dustin Harrell (Megan) and Logan Walton and great grandson Greyson Harrell and granddaughter Alexandra Bridgers; brother Billy Soles (Sonja). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Growing up in Tabor City, NC instilled a love for beach music and shag dancing. By following that one passion he met the love of his life, Laura. His love for Laura, his family and friends were his life. His love for hunting, fishing, traveling, Civil War history and making knives gave him great enjoyment. He was a graduate of UNC Pembroke and earned a master’s degree from Virginia State University. Early in his career he taught, coached and was a principal in the Greensville County School System. He completed his career as a Superintendent for the Virginia Department of Corrections.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Woody Funeral Home - Parham on July 24, 2021 at 1pm. A reception will follow immediately after the celebration. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Crater Community Hospice or the American Cancer Society
