Obituary of Michael Earl McGinness
Michael Earl McGinness, 63, of Boonville, IN. passed away unexpectedly at his home in December. Mike was a caring, reserved, quirky, dependable, at times solitary, resourceful and hard-working person. He was a loving father, who believed in the importance of quality time with loved ones. This meant spending some of his early years of fatherhood enjoying swimming, roller-blading, baseball and movie marathons at the theatre with his daughter. Mike was a painter by trade and a scholar who continued his education in engineering and computers. His passions were playing the violin and harmonica, volunteering in the community, and fishing. Mike’s impeccable and unique fashion style included T-shirts and pants with a variety of paint spatter, a hat, sunglasses and a Kool cigarette hanging from his lips. He was the epitome of giving others their space when needed, but always remained available and more than willing to help. Mike also loved dogs and in recent years, he volunteered at the local humane society where he used his skills to tackle projects and contribute to their care. His volunteer work was more than just charity; it was his passion. Mike will be fondly remembered and missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his Daughter, April (McGinness) McReynolds; Siblings Jim McGinness, John McGinness, Carol (McGinness) Flin, Kathryn (McGinness) St. John; Step Siblings Shannon (Donovan) Helfrich, Dan Donovan, Erin (Donovan) Helfrich, Granddaughter Angel Williamson and his Mother Dorothy Melampy. Visitation will be 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Monday, January 11, 2021 at Alexander Memorial Park Heritage Chapel. Funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to your favorite animal charity. Condolences may be offered at www.AlexanderWestChapel.com.
