

David Brian DeBord, 59, of Charleston, WV, passed away on Friday, January 9, 2026 at the home of his mom in Newburgh, IN, with his mom and sister, Michelle at his bedside. He was born July 14, 1966 in Louisville, KY to Bonner and Linda DeBord.
He graduated from Nicholas County High School in 1984 and later began online classes toward a business degree, completing one year of study before his illness. David had been employed with the City of Charleston working specifically with the Kanawha Housing Division, as a Maintenance Specialist. In the three years he had worked there he was promoted 4 times. David enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping and fishing. He cherished visits to Minnesota to spend time with his sister, Michelle, and her husband, John, where they shared time together riding ATVs, snowmobiles and ice fishing. David also loved music, particularly songs from the 1980s, and was an amazing drummer.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bonner; uncle and aunt, David and Roberta Brackman, and grandparents, Arnold and Nadine Brackman and James and Louise DeBord.
Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Linda; sisters, Michelle Dompier (John) and Dana Bontempi; special cousin, Melissa Duke (Lance); cousins, Donna Brackman, Jeanette Biddle and Michael Brackman; nephew, Justin Martin; children, Ashley and Chase and his beloved cat, Louie.
Services will be held at a later date at High Lawn Cemetery, in Oak Hill, WV.
