Alvin "Joe" Shimek Jr.

Joe Shimek, 76, of Henderson, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, February 12, 2021, at home. He was born in Chicago, Illinois. Joe was a life-long Marine. He was a member of the Marine Corps League. He enjoyed working with hand tools and woodworking. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose M. Shimek; mother, Mary Reed; father, Alvin Joseph Shimek; and brother, Charles Ray Kimmel Joe is survived by his son, Chanse Shimek; step-sons, Jesse Wininger and Tom Mays; grandchildren, Taylor and Jayden Shimek; great grandchildren, Hunter, Anderson and Beck; brother, Wade Batton; and his dog, Cletus. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 18, 2021, at Alexander West Chapel, with Military Honors to be performed. Burial in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Wednesday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
