Neva Belle York

Neva Belle York, 99, of Greencastle passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2020, at Asbury Towers. Neva was born in Auburn, Illinois on August 20, 1921, the daughter of William Asher and Clara (Landers) Defries. Mrs. York was a member of Greencastle Church of the Nazarene. Over the years she had worked for Castle Craft Jewelry, Mallory’s and DePauw University. Survivors include her two sons, Theron Craig York, and Timothy Ray York, (wife-Cynthia); four grandchildren, two step-grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Theron Robert York; a brother, Clarence Asher Defries, Four sisters, Vivian Dickerson, Juanita Poynter, Elizabeth Clark, and LaVonne Strange. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 2, 2020, at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home with Pastor Todd Stepp officiating. Burial will follow in Brick Chapel Cemetery.
