Virginia (Sands) Deane

Virginia Mary (Sands) Deane, 83, of Staunton passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2020 at Augusta Health. Born December 31, 1936 in San Diego, CA, she was the daughter of the late Eugene Thomas and Mary (Keane) Sands. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Dabney Deane, Jr.; and her sister, Joan Sands. Virginia was a member of Augusta Stone Presbyterian Church. Being a local artist and heavily involved with the art community in Staunton, she was active with the Beverly St. Studio School and the CoArt Gallery. Survivors include her three children, Jennifer Sands Deane of Staunton, Virginia Deane Bushman and husband, Scott of Fredericksburg, VA, and Thomas H. Deane and wife, Lizneth of Fayetteville, NC; and two granddaughters, Erin Sarver and husband, Steven, and Anna Deane. Following cremation, a graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at Augusta Stone Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 28 Old Stone Church Road, Fort Defiance, with Rev. Bill Reinhold officiating. Those who plan to attend are asked to meet directly at the cemetery. There will be no formal viewing or visitation at the funeral home.
