Jesse Lee Caldwell

Jesse Lee Caldwell, age 35, of Virginia Beach, Virginia passed away on Thursday January 9, 2020. Jesse was born March 14, 1984 in Virginia to Brenda Goerz Caldwell and Jason Caldwell. Jesse is survived by his wife Melissa Caldwell; daughters Ariana Marion and Rhiannon Wieck; sons Drysten Gauntt, Dustyn Gauntt, and Jayden Caldwell; granddaughters Zya Howell and Ava Marion; father Jason Caldwell; mother Brenda Goerz: brother Aaron Smit; and sister Jennifer Smit. Jesse held many titles to include a loving husband, father, papa, son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, grandson, friend, a Knight of the 21st Century and Christian. His love was evident and extends far beyond these roles. Jesse was an amazing father and truly devoted husband. He was his wife’s best friend, soulmate and love of a lifetime. A selfless man who always put his family first. He enjoyed his campground, his golf cart, cornhole, poker, 4th of July trips, and devoting time to his family. LT Jesse Caldwell enlisted in the United States Navy October 29th, 2002. His career spanned five duty stations, the majority of which was spent at sea on four ships. He advanced to First Class Petty Officer and was commissioned as a Limited Duty Officer following two consecutive awards of Engineering Sailor of the Year. Throughout his career, Jesse remained steadfast as a passionate leader, mentor and a devoted friend. The impact he made still resounds, and his legacy is carried on by the many Sailors he served with throughout his career. A visitation for Jesse will be held Saturday, January 18, 2020 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home, 601 North Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23462. A Celebration of Life will occur Sunday, January 19, 2020 at 2:00 PM, 601 North Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23462. A Graveside Service at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington Virginia, will be held at a later date.
