Jacqueline Dianne (nee Novak) Carden passed away on March 2, 2026, surrounded by her immediate family, at the age of 78. Born in Gary, IN to the late James and Genevieve Novak, she was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Joseph and Helen Ryfa; her godmother, Alice Ryfa; and paternal grandparents, Joseph and Anna Novak.
She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Ray W. Carden, Jr.; her loving daughter, Rachel (Les) Turbin; her sisters, Pamela (John) Lieberenz, Cynthia (Dennis) Northrop, and Lori K. (John) Novak; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and many cousins throughout the world.
Jackie was a Girl Scout Leader with the Calumet Counsel, and led both Brownies and Junior troops. She led various camping trips, excursions, and guided several girls in Northwest Indiana to become strong independent women.
Jackie enjoyed working in her flower garden, and looked forward to the various blooms each year. She was an excellent cook; "Never measure, never worry" was her motto. She was also a seamstress, was extremely crafty, and made floral arrangements for special occasions and weddings. Her favorite holiday was Christmas; if you visited their house you would think you were in a Christmas movie.
A visitation for Jackie will be held on Monday March 9, 2026 from 11:00 am until time of service at 1:00 pm at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307. Burial to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
