Obituary of Frederick Gabris Buckendorff
Frederick Gabris Buckendorff, Jr. known in his early years a Laddie, then Freddie, and finally, Fred was born in Los Angeles, California on the 20th of May 1940 to Elizabeth Goldberg Buckendorff and Frederick Gabris Buckendorff, Sr. He grew up in LaVerne, California. After graduating from high school he was invited to live with his sister’s in-laws, the Robert Byerly family, in Elizabethtown, PA. There he attended and graduated from Elizabethtown College. He also attended graduate school at the University of Montana, as well as California Polytechnic School. He was a beloved professor of math and computer science at Kutztown University for over 30 years. He leaves three siblings: an older sister DeAnne Buckendorff Byerly (Saint Paul, MN), a younger brother, David Buckendorff and his wife, Ruth (Redmond, OR), and a younger sister, Beth Buckendorff Banfield (Tucson, AZ), He also leaves an aunt, Irene Goldberg (Phoenix, AZ), three cousins, ten nephews and nieces, nine great nephews and nieces, and a great, great nephew and niece. He is also survived by his second wife, Kyle Sabatino, to whom he was married for 26 years and with whom he had children Lauren and Matthew. He is also survived by his daughter Lauren, son-in-law Christopher, and grandchildren Liam, Teddy, and Grace. He is preceded in death by his parents, his son, Matthew and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. His smile and laughter will be missed by all who knew him. He spent his last 5 years with his caring friend, Judy Orazio. Fred was an avid golfer his entire life, and he was never happier than when he was out on the links. He was a special man, always ready with a smile or joke, and his charm, charisma, and bright personality will forever be missed.
