Demaine Funeral Home

Camilla Anne Clocker (78)was born in Saratoga, Wyoming on May 28, 1940 to Everett Hale Clocker and Marie Heffron Clocker. She had fond memories of life with her family on forest ranger stations when she was a little girl. She was 12 when her father’s job with the US Forest Service brought them to Alexandria, VA. Camilla graduated from Groveton High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in French from the College of William and Mary. She returned to the family home in Alexandria and continued to live there until very recently. In the years of her career, Camilla cataloged books at the Library of Congress in Washington, D. C. In her retirement years, she did contract work writing indexes for books, learned bookbinding as a hobby, volunteered at local libraries and participated in book clubs there. Camilla was an avid reader who especially enjoyed mysteries and had in her vast book collection a complete hardback set of Agatha Christie mysteries. She also enjoyed reading books about gardening, had a “green thumb” for growing nice house plants, liked outdoor gardening, and volunteered at Green Spring Gardens in Fairfax County. Camilla had a collection of paintings mostly of large animals of Africa and was a supporter of wildlife organizations. She preferred living independently and took great pleasure over the years in the company of several cats. It could be said that they were in fact her best friends. Camilla is survived by her brother, Joe Clocker and wife Jamone of Fuquay Varina, North Carolina; niece, Karen C. Earle and husband Eric of Wake Forest, North Carolina; niece, Laura C. Blausey and husband John of Willow Spring, North Carolina; one great nephew and two great nieces.
