Gertrude Elva Rauth
January 5, 1926 – April 5, 2021
Gertrude Elva Rauth, 95, of Richmond, Virginia, passed away on Monday, April 5, 2021. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, William Adolph "Pop-Pop". Gertie, called “Namar” by her grandchildren, is survived by her dear sister Catherine "Catsy" Dellinger; her daughters Dianne Rauth Sheehan, Barbara Rauth McCall, and Susan Gayle Rauth; grandchildren Jennifer, Gary, Jr, Brendan, Meghan and Devin; five great grandchildren; and extended family, nieces and nephews.
Originally from Arlington, Virginia, Gertie was a graduate of Washington & Lee High School and spent her first 75 years in Northern Virginia prior to relocating to Richmond. She was known to family and friends as a sharp, independent and resourceful woman who shared her strength with others.
A private family graveside service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, April 10, at Columbia Gardens Cemetery at 3411 Arlington Blvd. A private family viewing will take place at 12:30 pm at Murphy Funeral Home, 4510 Wilson Blvd. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Hospice of Richmond, Virginia, or the charity of your choice.
