Murphy Funeral Homes
Born in Winchester, New Hampshire on April 16, 1918 to his dear mother Catherine and father Stephen, Lt Col (Ret) Raymond Andrew Dubriske, age 95, died peacefully at his Arlington home on January 20, 2014. He was preceded in death by his beloved spouse, Peggy, with whom he spent over 60 beautiful years as husband and wife. After her death in 2010, Ray was convinced it was only the Holy Spirit that allowed him to carry on with his life without her. He is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
After completing high school where he served as student body president and lettered in multiple sports, Ray attended the University of Notre Dame, graduating in 1941 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Commerce. He was then commissioned in the U.S. Army in 1942, and served in combat as a logistics officer within the European theater during World War II. Ray received a variety of awards and decorations during his distinguished career including the Bronze Star.
After retiring from active duty, Ray worked as a procurement specialist within the Office of the Secretary of the Army. He then became a business consultant to both private industry and governmental agencies upon his second retirement as a civil servant. Ray also used his time in retirement to write and publish a book a condominium management, which is still in print today.
A Mass in celebration of Ray’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church located at 830 23rd St South, Arlington, VA. Interment will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
