Stanton Jue passed away at his home in Arlington, VA on Saturday, July 14, 2018. He was 93 years old. He served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. After earning a Ph.D. in political science, he was a career U.S. Foreign Service officer first with the United States Information Agency and later with the Department of State. His postings included Phnom Penh, Cambodia; Taipei, Taiwan; Tokyo, Japan; Saigon, Vietnam; Seoul, South Korea, and Canberra, Australia. During an extended tour in Washington, D.C., he helped with the normalization of diplomatic relations with China. His last assignment was Policy Officer for East Asia and the Pacific. He wrote extensively on U.S. – China relations and China’s rise as a global power.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Florence; daughter, Patricia, and her spouse, David Evans; grandchildren Catrin Evans, and Guy Evans and his spouse, Kazue, and great grandchildren Michito and Reina.
The Memorial Celebration of Life gathering is 2-5 p.m. on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Murphy Funeral Home, 4510 Wilson Blvd., Arlington VA 22203. Interment at Arlington National Cemetery will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
