Aubrey H. Dillon

Aubrey Heyden Dillon, 85, of Stanleytown Health & Rehabilitation Center, passed away September 20, 2010.
Aubrey was born October 17, 1924 to Annie Wyatt Hall Dillon and Harvel Trotter “H.T.” Dillon of Martinsville. In addition to his parents, Aubrey is preceded in death by his brothers, Curtis L. Dillon and Dwight L. Dillon, Sr.
Aubrey attended Martinsville High School leaving school early to enlist in the U.S. Navy. His tour of active duty included the D-Day Invasion of June 6, 1944. Honorably discharged in April 1946, he returned to Martinsville completed his high school education and continued his education as a graduate of Virginia Southern Business School in Roanoke. A member of the U.S. Naval reserves, he was called back to active duty and served on the U.S.S. Boxer in the Korean War.
Upon his second honorable discharge from the military Aubrey returned to Martinsville and was employed at Lester Industries. In 1967, Paul Dodson, Don Eanes and Aubrey teamed to start a repair business known as The Electric Company. He retired from full time employment in 1998.
Aubrey is survived by sisters in law Louise Dillon of Martinsville and Roxanne Dillon of Bassett: nieces Patricia Young of Richmond, Ruby Davis of Bassett and Linda Gorris of Gulf Breeze, FL.; nephews Ron Dillon of Honolulu, HI,; Len Dillon and Hiram Dillon of Stanleytown; great nieces Caitlin Dillon, Molly Dillon, Corinne Young, Leanne Gorris, Sarah Davis; great nephew Aubrey Davis; very special friend JoAnn Higgins of Martinsville and his extended family and friends at Stanleytown Health & Rehabilitation Center. There are not enough thank you's available for all of those that touched his life these past six years.
A memorial service will be held Saturday September 25, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Homer in Bassett. Burial will follow in Roselawn Burial Park.
The family will receive friends 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. the day of the memorial service at Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home in Bassett.
