So sorry for your loss

Mrs. Lackey was my tenth grade English teacher at Bassett High School, but more than that, she was a great friend and adviser. I remember being in her class when our principle, Mr. Waleski made
the announcement that President Kennedy had been shot in Dallas, Texas. I remember her concern for the moment and for the welfare of her students in the class. That was Mrs. Lackey, always concerned for the needs of others. Many years ago I worked at Wickline Drugs and I saw and talked with her often. She was a sweet Christian lady and she will be fondly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. To the family, may the
LOVE of JESUS CHRIST richly bless you.

Charles Taylor, Living Water Ministries, Bassett Va. (NAHUM 1:7 /JOHN 3:16 KJV)

Benita was a true friend who was always positive, had a smile for you and a story about my mom and aunt Barbara. She made everyone around her better. Just a wonderful woman of faith. God bless all the family.

What an enthusiastic educator and friendly lady! Mrs. Lackey was one of my English teachers at FCHS in the early 70's. May God bless and comfort her children and other family members!

I will miss her so much she was always encouraging me to pursue my dreams. I will always remember the times I would come over to her classroom and check papers for her. She was one of the best teachers that I had in high school.

I loved Mrs Lackey. She taught me in 1987. She helped me realize how much I loved poetry and story telling and entered me into competitions for the school, that I won. This in turn boosted my self confidence. I can’t remember most of my teachers but I will always remember Bonita Lackey. She was special and she made me feel special. RIP
